Job Description
Unlock Your Future at Linfield University: Chief Information Officer (CIO) Opportunity

Are you an accomplished IT leader with a passion for education and a knack for steering transformative technological initiatives? Linfield University is seeking an exceptional individual to step into the role of Chief Information Officer and lead our dynamic IT team towards a future defined by innovation, collaboration, and cutting-edge solutions.

About Linfield University: At Linfield, we believe in the power of education to change lives. Our commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive learning environment has made us a leader in higher education. As the CIO, you will be an integral part of shaping our technological landscape and furthering our mission to empower students and educators alike.

Linfield University is an independent, nonprofit university with two physical campuses. The main campus, located in McMinnville, Oregon is on 189 park-like acres just south of the charming historic downtown. The School of Nursing, located in northeast Portland, Oregon, is located on 20 acres. Linfield also has a growing eCampus. Since 1858, Linfield has connected a traditional liberal arts experience with practical education through 57 majors, including wine studies, sport management and nursing. Linfield also offers interdisciplinary graduate degrees in business, nursing, education and sports sciences. Linfield University is fully accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. With a relentless focus on student success, Linfield is committed to a mission of connecting learning, life and community.

The university's two physical locations showcase the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and a meaningful connection between the university and its community. Just 1-2 hours from either location are the snow-peaked mountains of the Oregon Cascades or the Pacific Ocean shoreline. McMinnville and Portland are both highly ranked for their access to outdoor recreation, as well as top locations for foodies and wine enthusiasts.

Role and Responsibilities: As the CIO, you will provide visionary leadership in all facets of information technology. Your strategic prowess will guide the planning, implementation, and management of IT resources, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. You'll leverage your deep knowledge of computer resources, telecommunications, and networking strategies to spearhead transformative change.

Minimum Qualifications: To thrive in this role, you should bring:

  • Strong familiarity with commercial, open source, cloud-based, and hybrid technology sourcing strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of information technology, telecommunications, and networking strategies.
  • Profound expertise in managing computer resources and a proven track record of effective organizational and financial management.
  • A Master's degree in computer science, mathematics, data science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills to engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A minimum of seven years of progressive IT experience, preferably within a college or university setting.
  • Proficiency in network and data security standards, especially in higher education technology environments.
  • Strategic mindset with the capability to develop and implement both short and long-term plans.
  • A solid grasp of data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality, security, and privacy.
  • A talent for promoting a data-driven culture, inspiring stakeholders to base decisions on data insights.
  • A keen aptitude for technological change management and the ability to drive successful implementation.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective relationships with IT teams, university staff and faculty, students, vendors, and the wider community.

Why Linfield: We value our employees and their families, offering a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Undergraduate tuition exchange opportunities, expanding educational possibilities for your loved ones.
  • Comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage
  • 8 holidays; 28 days of PTO per year
  • Undergraduate tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, allowing you to pursue educational aspirations.
  • Access to Athletics complex and Library for you and your family.
  • Winter break closure between Christmas and New Year's
  • Graduate program tuition discount

Make an Impact: Linfield University is dedicated to cultivating a vibrant and progressive learning environment. As our CIO, you'll play a pivotal role in driving technological transformation, enabling our community to excel in the digital age.
