Job Description

Our client, a $125M+/yr Commercial Contractor building projects throughout the Tampa/St Petersburg and Florida Gulf Coast Chief Financial Officer - CFO. This position, based in their Tampa based corporate office will report to ownership and executive leadership and manage the complete financial affairs of this growing Building Contractor.


Position:

The successful candidate will have 15+ years of accounting experience, 5 years in a VP of Accounting or similar CFO role within a construction contractor in the $100M/yr to $500/yr range. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize work assignments at an executive level, a high attention to detail and possess strong communication skills.


Specific Requirements and duties:

  • Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the corporation may enter
  • Execute the financial strategy of the company
  • Work with the Corporate Controller in the monthly financial budgeting reports, monthly profit and loss by customer/subsidiary business unit, forecast vs. budget by division, and weekly cash flow by division
  • Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets and consolidation and reporting to the Company (WIP)
  • Evaluate the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) of individuals
  • Maintain a working relationship with the firms’ outside CPA, Bank, Bonding and Insurance Consultants
  • Evaluates and advises on the impact of long range planning, introduction of new programs/ strategies and regulatory action
  • Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state and federal tax returns.
  • Manage all financial controls and accounting procedures
  • Propose action plans to ensure that annual financial objectives are attained
  • Maintain outstanding banking, bonding and banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners
  • Ensure credibility of Finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization
  • Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures
  • Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs
  • Support the CEO/President with the annual financial plans and forecasts
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior executives so as to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions
  • Coordinate and produce all tax documentation as required by the outside CPA
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data for lenders and company’s owners
  • Ensure full transparency over the financial performance of the company
  • Take hands-on lead position along with the VP of Construction of developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive job cost system
  • Provides leadership in the development for the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives



Compensation:

· Salary, commensurate with experience & abilities ranging from $180K-$210K/year DOE

· Executive Level Annual Bonus to 50%+ of annual salary

Qualifications:

· Four-Year Accounting related College Degree.

· 15+ years of construction accounting experience, 5 in a supervisory role

· Excellent written/communication skills and be computer literate. Experience with Construction Accounting and Project Management software preferred.

· Team Player with Strong Work Ethic.

· Sound economic-thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound, informative decisions.
