Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) is seeking an innovative, entrepreneurial, and a visionary leader to serve as the chief executive officer and general manager of the Georgia Public Telecommunications Commission (GPTC) d.b.a. Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB). The desired candidate should demonstrate the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community and have a commitment to understanding the challenges facing digital media, education, and public broadcasting. The CEO will be responsible for the oversight of all daily operations, activities, and functions of GPB and the Foundation for Public Broadcasting in Georgia, Inc. The CEO reports to the Chairman of the GPB Board.
Job Responsibilities Include:
  • Serves as chief representative on behalf of GPB in the community to all donors and stakeholders, including individual givers, sustainers, leadership and planned giving, foundations, corporations, and program sponsors/underwriters.
  • Represents GPB in conducting lobbying activities before the Georgia General Assembly; testifies in legislative committee hearings; attends related meetings; and keeps officials, station licensee administration, and any governing boards up-to-date on activities and needs of GP
  • Serves as principal liaison and advocate for GPB with state legislature, CPB, NPR, PBS, FCC, and other state and/or national officials and local governments.
  • Provides oversight and is responsible for strategic planning initiatives and setting the direction of GPB to include funding initiatives, potential partnerships, contracts, and grants from various sources and/or agencies.
  • Ensures sound financial and operational planning, integrated technology, and diversity and equity initiatives.
  • Monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement.
  • Oversees the daily operations and activities of all departments and divisions of GPB, which include television and radio operations, studio and field productions, finance and human resources, education services, broadcasting engineering and technology, programming and content, marketing and communications, development and fundraising, regulatory compliance, and reporting.
  • Establishes short- and long-range organizational goals and objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Oversees compliance of all rules and regulations governing public broadcasting entities.
