Job Description

Hirewell has been exclusively retained by Rocky Mountain Communities to lead their search for a new Chief Executive Officer This position, held in Denver, CO will oversee all strategic and operational efficiencies of the organization. Combining inspirational leadership and sophisticated management abilities, this leader will not only understand current trends, but will also engage in developing and implementing a successful fundraising plan. Above all, the Chief Executive Officer should provide strategic leadership and hands-on management for all of the administrative and operational functions of the organization in accordance with the mission, objectives, and policies. Ideal candidates will have direct experience holding a leadership role within the affordable housing space.


Job Summary:


Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer will oversee all strategic and operational efficiencies of the organization. Combining inspirational leadership and sophisticated management abilities, this leader will not only understand current trends, but will also engage in developing and implementing a successful fundraising plan. Above all, the Chief Executive Officer should provide strategic leadership and hands-on management for all of the administrative and operational functions of the organization in accordance with the mission, objectives, and policies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish goals, objectives, and operational plans in collaboration with the Board of Directors, staff, and other leaders
  • Comply with all national and local regulations
  • Meet annual fundraising goals by securing financial support from foundations, corporations, individual donors, and government funding sources
  • Work closely with Board of Directors and committees to assess and address issues affecting the organization
  • Identify and address staffing requirements for efficient operations, and maintain a strong work culture
  • Oversee daily operations of the organization, providing executive direction for program strategies and efficiencies, compliance, and quality assurance
  • Provide executive leadership that is transparent and empowering in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission
  • Attend all Board meetings and provide reports and updates on staff as well as all current work, project timelines, and project and organizational progress
  • Serve as the face of the organization and participate in external events to increase visibility, credibility, and market brand, and develop strategic partnerships to further increase community awareness and expand programs


Desired Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Proven experience executing organization growth and leading a similar or larger size nonprofit and/or related entity
  • Excellent managerial and financial skills and the ability to take leadership over any business operations area
  • Proven experience in public relations, marketing, and fundraising
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with innovative approach to business planning
  • Five years of prior experience in senior management at a nonprofit, foundation, government, or industry
  • Excellent written, oral, and public speaking skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with strong interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
  • Proven success working with a Board of Directors
  • Proven experience in affordable, multifamily housing sector
