Salary Range

$76,560 - $199,320 / per year

Engineer I - $76,560 - $114,840 / per year

Engineer II - $87,440 - $131,160 / per year

Engineer III - $99,600 - $149,400 / per year

Engineer IV - $114,560 - $171,840 / per year

Engineer V - $132,880 - $199,320 / per year

Summary

Responsible for analyzing production processes, equipment, utilities, waste treatment facilities and infrastructure for the purpose of improving safety, quality and productivity by making changes to the equipment design or operational procedures

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following examples of duties and responsibilities illustrate the general range of tasks assigned to the position but are not intended to define the limits of required duties. Other essential duties may be assigned consistent with the general scope of the position.

  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures and training criteria for new and modified equipment to insure safe and efficient operation
  • Design and perform unit process experiments to optimize operations
  • Generate various production reports at intervals for management and other company divisions
  • Apply mathematical analysis to determine validity and reliability of sampling and work study statistics
  • Coordinate efforts with engineering to design and install new equipment
  • Interface collaboratively with other technology resources in the organization to bring appropriate resources into the unit to resolve problems beyond the scope of the production engineering position
  • Provide input into raw material inventory management, including RM specifications
  • Analyze work study data and equipment specifications to establish time and production standards
  • Assist in training operators to maximize safety, quality and productivity of the process
  • Monitor or conduct observation and analysis of daily unit production to determine the improvements needed
  • Aid in commissioning of new equipment, including writing procedures and training
  • Be the key resource for equipment, safety and production related issues
  • Work closely with operations personnel to identify and resolve issues impacting operations

Qualifications

Incumbents must have demonstrated knowledge and abilities in these areas. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

  • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field and one (1) to three (3) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Computer Skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
Other Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma tools, Statistical Analysis, SPC Tools desirable
  • Working knowledge of other engineering disciplines
  • Must be able to plan and schedule individual workload without close supervision
  • Able to track a multitude of details without losing site of the overall end goal
  • Able to make clear and convincing presentation of ideas in written and verbal forms
  • Active listening skills required
  • Must understand the long term needs of the customers, both internal and external, and be driven to meeting those needs
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams and engage/gain respect of hourly workforce
  • Ability to envision a desired end state and put activities in place to move the organization there
