The Gelsons Markets Checkers primary responsibility is to attend to the needs of every customer and ensure a top quality shopping experience. The Checker will be responsible operating a cash register and check stand to provide the customer with the most accurate and efficient checkout service possible by processing sales transactions including cash, checks, credit, EFT transactions, SNAP debit cards, manufacturers coupons and gift certificates. The Checker must be knowledgeable in and be able to recognize various types of produce, verify all customer identification documents presented and observe store policies pertaining to the acceptance of checks and the sale of alcoholic beverages. As a Gelsons Markets Checker you will come in direct contact with our customers. Excellent customer service, attentive listening and resourceful assistance are crucial. The ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers and all levels of staff within Gelsons Markets is mandatory. The Gelsons Checker must possess strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. All Checker positions start at part time. Pay rate will be dependent on experience. Physical requirements:

• Exposure to noise (Front end check stand noise) The pay range for this position is - $18.20 - $25.60
• Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. occasionally
• Continuous hand manipulation including, grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation
• Bending and twisting up to 5 hours per day
• Reaching above and at shoulder level
• Walking, squatting and kneeling up to 2 hours per day
• Lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. frequently
• Standing up to 8 hours per day
