Job Description
School Based Certified Occupational Therapist Aide (COTA): Mentor Public School for the 2023-2024 School Year
Location: Mentor Public Schools- CARES
Hourly Rate: $39.00 per hour
Hours: 8:00 am - 3:00 pm (7 hours with 1/2 hour unpaid lunch)
Days: 188 Days
Overview: Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (s) position to serve preschool-school aged students in Lakewood Schools
Essential Job Functions
Assist Occupational Therapist with assessments for evaluations, provide direct and consult therapies under guidance from OT, collect benchmark data for student progress
  • Work cooperatively with educational staff to identify areas where support is needed, including adaptation strategies
  • Implement service delivery to assigned students based on the goals, objectives, frequency/ duration, and placement as determined by the IEP team, under guidance supervision of OT
  • Exhibits knowledge of clinical theory and its application as it relates to the student’s educational needs.
  • Provide informal data to OT to support present level of function and an Individual Educational Plan (IEP) with goals and objectives in conjunction with the IEP team.
  • Maintain oral and written communication with educational personnel, parents and Therapy Services coordinator.
  • Responds to requests for consultation on students or consults on specific program needs..
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience working with pre-school and school age students.
  • Collaborative, constructive team building skills
  • Must be licensed as an COTA in the State of Ohio
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and use sound judgment in all aspects of the job
  • Associate - Bachelor degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with students, parents, and other staff members
  • Must be well-versed in applicable state and federal law
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in suburban/urban setting
  • Ohio Department of Education License
