Job Description
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) have graduated from a CNA certificate program and are qualified by NY State with current certification. Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) are required to perform job tasks including but not limited to providing person centered care, individual interventions for behaviors, recognizing dementia as disease process and providing sensitive care while maintain dignity, assisting residents with daily activities, bathing & dressing residents, serving meals and assisting with feeding residents and providing with snacks, take vital signs, turning and positioning residents, providing bedpans/urinals, providing nail & hair care, answering call bells, examining resident skin condition, monitoring for blood in urine or other injuries/wounds, recording intake and output, changing bed sheets, weighing residents, providing care for Foley catheters/colostomies, and restocking supply as needed. Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) serve as a conduit between patients and nurses and doctors and record and communicate all issues to licensed staff.


Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) are required to maintain confidentiality of all residents, maintain resident rights while assisting with ADL's, provide privacy during care and maintain dignity, ensure fair treatment of all residents, knock before entering resident's rooms, report all grievances to charge nurse in timely manner, report abuse immediately to charge nurse or abuse hotline, report refusals of care to charge nurse, provide person centered focused care with attention to residents with diagnosis of Alzheimer's Dementia requiring individualized interventions.


Administrative Functions- Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) are required to perform the following administrative functions including but not limited to: receive on coming report from peers/charge nurse prior to starting shift, follow all facility policies related to administering care to residents, adhere to the corporate compliance code of conduct, attend all mandatory and assigned in-services, participate in QAPI performance improvement projects, ensure resident has proper identification via ID band prior to performing any task, record all documentation on flow sheets and electronic medical record, fill all administrative incident report/employee statement in timely manner, report all changes in resident condition to charge nurse as soon as practicable.


Admission, Discharge, Transfer, Death Functions - Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) are required to perform the following admission/discharge/transfer/ death in facility functions including but not limited to: ensure the resident's room/bed/bedside is ready to receive a resident, Introduce resident to roommates and other residents on arrival to unit, assist resident in achieving comfort, inventory resident personal possessions, ensure resident has proper identification via ID band, provide post-mortem care.


Staff Development- Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) are required to attend all mandatory and assigned in-servicing presentations as scheduled at the facility including but not limited to via online (RELIAS Learning), in person, webinar, and/or audio conference to maintain certification and remain up to date with facility policies & protocols.


Equipment & Supply Function- Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) are required to utilize only equipment trained to use and operate all equipment in safe manner.


Specific Requirements- Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English language, must possess ability to deal tactfully with resident's and personal visitors, must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace.
