Job Description
The Category Specialist will work with the designated Category Manager(s) to support and maintain our brand and customer experience by driving product sales through price optimization, promotional planning, assortment productivity, cost negotiations, and product ordering. We are looking for an individual that is opportunistic, customer-focused and that can partner with cross-functional teams (ie. Supply Chain, Planning, Business Development, Marketing and Digital Merchandising) to surpass financial objectives. It will be imperative that this person demonstrates the problem-solving and analytical skills necessary to thrive in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment. Please note you must be available to go into the office in Washington, D.C. three days per week.


You Will:


  • Establish a deep understanding of Gopuff’s retail stores and e-premise business, internal processes, and overall assortment specifically spirits categories within Liquor Barn, KY.
  • Assist Category Manager(s) in pricing and positioning of category products
  • Assist in weekly purchase order process including invoice discrepancy reconciliation, product information updates and closures
  • Manage the new item setup process and item maintenance
  • Execute monthly product cost collection process for KY retail stores, executing cost and retail changes
  • Partner with vendors and finance to track and recover refunds and credits
  • Develop strategies to drive cost savings
  • Source, input and manage item, supplier and vendor information
  • Provide daily ordering and merchandising support to the store teams
  • Maintain weekly promotional planner with retail price changes


You Have:


  • Awareness of our current brand and product mix and initial insight to opportunities
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Marketing, Finance, Business, or Economics is a plus)
  • Must have strong computer skills – proficiency with excel is required
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented and organized
  • Experience in convenience or CPG is a plus, as is Alcohol
  • Must have effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Capable of taking initiative, ownership, and accountability for the business
  • Must have knowledge of Merchandising, Marketing, Financial Planning, and overall Supply Chain
  • Ability to react quickly with a strong sense of urgency


Compensation:


  • Gopuff pays employees based on market pricing and pay may vary depending on your location. A candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
