Job Description
The Comforted Kitty is currently looking for self-employed Cat Care Specialists immediately for our service area of the San Mateo/Peninsula area. ( You decide your service area and most clients will be within 10 mile radius of your home). Are you a customer service rockstar who believes that the best clients have whiskers and a tail? Are you tired of being a dog walker outside all day? Are you looking for a rewarding flexible self-employed pet sitter position? Are you comfortable with a part-time job that keeps you busier some weeks than other weeks according to need? If so, please read on!

Our Cat Care Specialists earn competitive pay averaging around $20 per 30 minute visit, $26 per 45 minute visit, $30 per 60 minute visit and $85 for overnight visits in the Peninsula area. And you are paid extra on major holidays. We also offer a tiered bonus structure based on the amount of sittings you accept and complete per week. The more you work, the more you make! The number of clients you're provided with depends solely on your availability and the demand in your location. Usually there is more demand during holidays and summer time.

Please note this is an self-employed position and NOT an employee W2 position.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A CAT CARE SPECIALIST

As a Cat Care Specialist, you meet with each client in person beforehand at their home. Your warm smile and kind demeanor make a memorable impression. You take pride in your work and are always professional in all your interactions. Your great work leads to positive word of mouth as well as a warm fuzzy feeling in your heart. After all, people who get to pet animals every day, live longer and happier lives! Every time you hit the road to visit another feline friend, you can’t believe you found such a delightful part-time gig.

At each scheduled pet sitting visit, you reference the instructions given by your client and perform the prescribed care with attention to detail according to what your client has outlined. Typical tasks include feeding, cleaning bowls, refilling water bowls, cleaning litter boxes and/or any accidents, administering medications, and providing daily updates to clients by phone, text, or email. You spend time socializing with the cats as if they were your own, finding creative ways to engage and comfort them. You also typically perform light housesitting tasks as contracted such as performing a home security check, retrieving mail and packages, putting out or retrieving trash bins, and watering plants.

WHAT TRAITS WE LOOK FOR IN A CAT CARE SPECIALIST

  • At least 18 years old
  • Ability to pass a criminal background screening and reference check
  • Proven experience caring for cats (professional experience NOT required)
  • Possess a smartphone that has internet access to download apps as well as texting and camera capabilities

Our highest peak times are the winter holidays and so we are strongly looking for someone who is available for all of these holidays

Certification in pet first aid/CPR or any experience with administering oral medications, injections, subcutaneous fluids, ointments, and other medications is a big Plus but not required! Can you handle unexpected and emergency situations with confidence? Are you organized, systematic, and would be able to keep track of schedules and keys? Do you project calm energy? If so, you might just be perfect for this self-employed pet sitting position.

FLEXIBLE PET SITTING WORK

This is a great flexible side job! Since it is a self-employed opportunity, it is great for those with unconventional availability and part time students or workers. While we need you to be reliable, there is flexibility within time frames. Your clients choose from 4 time frames for their visits. These include morning (6-11am), afternoon (12-5pm), evening (5-10pm), anytime (6 am - 10 pm) or overnight visits (10 hour stay in the home). We match you to clients who choose shifts that fit your availability. And, then you just need to come within those times, trying to keep it close to the same time each day for the sake of the cats who crave consistency.

About The Comforted Kitty

Established in 2014, we are a leading provider of in-home professional pet sitting services exclusively for cats. Currently, we arrange animal care services in select metro areas across California, Nevada, and Arizona. The sitters drop in for 30, 45, or 60 minutes at a time, once or twice daily, or for overnight stays. We pride ourselves in our professional conduct. Our sitter partners care for cats across a wide spectrum of personalities, ages, and temperaments--always providing individualized care.

The sitter always leave our clients’ homes as clean or cleaner as we found them, provide excellent customer service, and, most of all, exceptional cat care. This means that the sitters always do exactly as the client has instructed us to do and immediately notify them of any issues or concerns with their cat or home. We also provide a fun and flexible opportunity for cat lovers throughout the areas we operate in. What could be more purrfect?
