Job Salary: $27 000 / year

As a Cashier, you will play a vital role in providing excellent customer service and facilitating smooth transactions at the point of sale. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Cash Handling: Accurately processing cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring the correct amount is received and given back as change.
  • Customer Assistance: Greeting customers, answering their questions, and assisting with their purchases. You will provide friendly and efficient service, helping customers locate products and providing information about promotions or sales.
  • Register Operation: Operating the cash register or POS system to scan items, input prices, and process transactions swiftly and accurately. You will also be responsible for reconciling the cash drawer at the end of your shift.
  • Product Knowledge: Familiarizing yourself with the store’s layout, products, and pricing to assist customers with their inquiries and offer suitable recommendations.
  • Order Accuracy: Ensuring the accuracy of items being purchased, verifying prices, and confirming product quantities.
  • Bagging and Packaging: Bagging and packaging purchases appropriately, considering special handling requirements for fragile or perishable items.
  • Cleanliness and Organization: Maintaining a clean and orderly checkout area, including the register, conveyor belt, and surrounding areas. This includes restocking bags, receipt paper, and other supplies as needed.
  • Adherence to Policies: Following all store policies and procedures, including those related to cash handling, customer service, safety, and security.

Qualifications:

  • Basic computer skills for operating the register or POS system.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift moderately heavy items.
  • Prior cashier or customer service experience is beneficial.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to handle cash accurately and efficiently.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
