JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a 32-hour/week Cardiac Sonographer to provide patient and provider support by using ultrasound imaging technologies to aid in diagnosing and treating cardiac conditions at Duke Children’s Specialty Services of Greensboro, 1126 N. Church Street, Suite 203, Greensboro, NC 27401. This position would be required to travel to other PDC clinics located Raleigh and Fayetteville as needed for coverage.


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates proficiency by performing routine and urgent adult, pediatric and fetal echocardiograms, including but not limited to 2-dimensional, 3-dimensional and Doppler as requested by physician and in accordance with standard practices.
  • Assist in the reaccreditation process and quality improvement program for the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission Echocardiography (IAC-Echo).
  • Ability to thoroughly, and efficiently, evaluate pathology following current guidelines (American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), American College of Cardiology (ACC), etc.).
  • Respond to patient questions about procedures and equipment prior to starting the imaging process.
  • Analyze patient’s medical record to obtain history of symptoms and necessary information for performance of diagnostic procedures.
  • Attends required staff meetings and ensures ensuring continuing education requirements met to support professional growth and certification.
  • Position requires some travel and will need to be able to work in Raleigh, Apex, and Greensboro as needed.
  • Communicates technical and patient care related information according to established processes and timelines
  • Operate equipment necessary to perform all required procedures and to obtain optimal diagnostic recording; utilize ancillary devices such as selected transducers, digital networking system, off-line analysis systems as indicated.


JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Pediatric and Fetal ARDMS certifications are preferred. If not, Pediatric certification must be obtained within 2 years of start date and fetal certification within 3 years of start date.
  • New graduates of an accredited cardiac ultrasound program must obtain ARDMS/CCI credential within one year from graduation date.
  • Individuals cross-trained in echocardiography or working to fulfill clinical experience to meet pre-requisites for credentialing must obtain certification within two years from the start of training.
  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)/Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Certification in Adult Echocardiography (RDCS or RCS respectively), or CCI Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) certification. Certification must be maintained and in good standing with ARDMS or ACS.
