Cardiac Sonographer Augusta Clinic

The Advanced Sonographer functions as a mid-level healthcare provider who provides patient services using diagnostic echocardiography and works under the delegated authority of the Echo Lab Medical Director who is responsible for the use and interpretation of ultrasound procedures. The roles and responsibilities extend beyond those of a staff sonographer and are focused on providing advanced clinical echocardiography services. The Advanced Sonographer’s functions are performed consistent with their education and training and accordance with facility protocols, policies, and procedures as applicable professional standards.

Demonstrates the cognitive and technical skills required to perform comprehensive echocardiographic imaging.
Provides patient education related to cardiac ultrasound.
Records and processes echocardiographic data.
Provides patient services in a variety of medical settings.
Assists and participates in the ongoing development and implementation of continual quality improvement and education initiatives.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $33.94 - $54.30 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation: Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical ultrasound or dedicated echocardiography ultrasound program. Associate’s degree required with Bachelor’s degree to be obtained within 5 years. A degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, science, or health related field are preferred.Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hospital based echocardiography experience required.License/Certification: Credentials from ARDMS or CCI as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS), or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.PHYSICAL DEMANDSJob requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping and traveling, driving (occasionally for outreach clinics); reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: Manipulation of ultrasound transducer. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 100lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, radiation, blood/body fluids disease.
