Visitation/Calling Pastor | Fair Haven Church

Position Type Part-Time Position Grade Hourly
Classification Non-Exempt Budget Hours Average up to 15 hours per week

Reporting Relationship Pastor of Teaching, Care & Outreach | Fair Haven
Ministry Teams FH Staff and Harbor Churches Staff

Purpose
The Visitation/Calling Pastor at Fair Haven Church will help people find their way back to God by providing crisis
response, hospital visitation and pastoral care to members and visitors of the Fair Haven congregation.

Responsibilities
Provide pastoral care to elderly, shut-ins and others in times of illness or crisis.
  • Provide prayer support and biblical encouragement to individuals called upon.
Make hospital and home visits as assigned by the Care Coordinator.
Attend funeral home visitations as assigned and conduct funerals upon request.
Provide pastoral counseling to individuals or families as appropriate.
  • Make appropriate referrals to Fair Haven ministries or community agencies.
Be part of the rotation in responding to the Fair Haven care phone line.
Serve communion to those desiring to take part during a visit.
Attend team meetings when requested to review the pastoral care report and receive assignments for the

week.
Communicate with the Care Coordinator regarding updates and information obtained in the course of

visitation/calling.
In cooperation with the Pastor of Teaching, Care and Outreach, assist in equipping and training lay leaders

and seminary/college interns in providing pastoral care.
  • Attend Fair Haven and Harbor All Staff meetings (Tuesdays).
Requirements
Ordained Minister of the Word
  • Good listener
  • Experience in Pastoral care & spiritual encouragement in times of crises
  • Spiritual gifts of pastor/shepherd, mercy, service and encouragement are desired.
  • Able to follow-through with assignments and be able to keep accurate visitation records.
