Cad Designer Jobs

& Responsibilities
Persistent Systems is looking for a CAD Designer with experience in the design of electronics systems and packaging solutions. The CAD Designer will have various responsibilities including product design, process design, and quality control for our Wave Relay® products.
Position Responsibilities

• Create, edit, and manage drawings in controlled document database
• Produce design models, drawing details, assembly drawings, and associated engineering documentation with 3D parametric modeling software
• Design mechanical enclosures for electronic devices including internal cable harnesses
• Lead, support, and facilitate transfer to production of new product, materials and/or processes
• Conduct design review with different groups inside of the company
• Use mechanical engineering principles and concepts to solve problems related to product development, manufacturing, and design
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required
• Design cable harnesses including wiring schematics and proper EMI shielding
• Work together with principal designers and engineers to develop designs and solutions
• Lead, support, and facilitate preventative and corrective quality actions
• Develop concept, assembly level layout, and detail design documentation with necessary supporting documentation and analysis
• Conduct both mechanical and electrical verification testing
• Provide input into applicable sections of project plans and work to execute tasks to plan
• Identify appropriate tolerances and GD&T to satisfy the design requirement and manufacturing
• Generate correct form, fit, and function of designs

Job Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications

• Experience with measuring devices such as test apparatus, data collection systems, gauges, micrometers, and optical comparators
• 4 years of experience with SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent 3D modeling programs
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
• Experience with material selection including fasteners, torque, and environmental seal
• Must have a US security clearance or the ability to obtain a US security clearance
• Experience with environmental testing: Thermal, vibration, Shock, EMI etc.
• At least 1 year of experience with designing parts for manufacture/fabrication
• Experience in the design of electronics packaging
• Knowledge of methods of fabrication including machining, casting, and injection molding
• Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.100-200 Engineering Drawing Practices

Preferred Qualifications

• ISO9001:2008 quality system experience (operations, procedures, documentation)
• Experience working with machine shop and other fabrication suppliers
• Familiarity with designing for environmental MIL-STD-810 and EMI performance MIL-STD-461

The base pay for this role can vary from $110,000 to $130,000 a year based on individual qualifications. Eligibility for yearly discretionary bonus.
