Job Description
Summary

Assists the Cable Television Producer/Director to produce, direct, write, shoot and edit various programs for the Township’s cable television channel. This position requires skill in all aspects of videography, video editing, graphics composition, producing and script writing. Knowledge of local government and Government Access Channel production preferred.

Works under direct supervision of the Public Information Office.

Duties

Responsible for maintaining the Township’s Government Access Channel computer generated video bulletin boards, program scheduling, editing program material and live cablecasting of Township Commissioner meetings on cable and social media channels.

Assists with creating video news releases for Government Access Channel.

Assists with coordinating provision of cable television services with the Public Information Office.

Assists with preparation for cablecasts, including live Township meetings and hearings and responsible for appropriate recorded playbacks.

Develops scripts and storyboards, develops, produces and directs video shoots, performs video edits, sets up lighting, operates multi-channel audio mixing boards and a digital switcher.

Works with Township employees, residents and others as necessary in creating programming relating to Township operations.

Creates video programming such as employee training videos and “talk shows” on various Township services, projects, programs and operations.

Assists with maintenance of equipment necessary for productions.

Coordinates and produces live emergency information broadcasts as necessary.

Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field from an accredited college or university plus two (2) years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and qualifying experience substituting on a year-for-year basis.

Valid Class C driver’s license.

Demonstrated experience in live television production, including on-air switching and playbacks.

Demonstrated experience in creation of video programs, including script composition, talent organization, producing, video recording and post-production.

Ability to work independently and as part of a creative team.

Ability to manage projects effectively and efficiently in short time frames.

Knowledge of the set-up and operation of Electronic News Gathering (ENG) and Electronic Field Production (EFP) video systems.

Knowledge of the operation Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Paint), Photoshop and other graphic manipulation programs.

Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.

Ability to organize and maintain records and files.

Ability to follow and understand verbal and written instructions.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and the general public.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

Ability to work flexible shifts including at least one evening per week (primarily Wednesdays) and some weekends.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit for a minimum of 1 up to 8 hours, stand for a minimum of 1 up to 5 hours, walk for a minimum of 1 up to 3 hours and drive for a minimum of up to 1 hour per workday.

Ability to use both hands for simple grasping, firm grasping and fine manipulation of objects and equipment.

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, including television production equipment and shift body positions alternating between carrying camera on shoulder and side.

Ability to bend, reach above shoulder level, climb, lift, push/pull and kneel for up to 68% of the workday for manipulation of television production equipment.

Ability to perform job functions using safety precautions around moving machinery including heavy equipment used outdoors.

Ability to perform job functions in all types of weather and temperatures.

Ability to perform job functions using safety precautions where environmental conditions may be challenging.

Ability to drive an automobile.
