Position Description

Ryerson has an opportunity for a Buyer position. As a Buyer you are responsible for analyzing local IPO and buyout activity for potential local sourcing as well as Monitoring and entering transfer production orders for inventory at satellite plants.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Pre-emptive thinking and logistics through coordination between local sales and regional inventory management
• Review local A items on a weekly basis to ensure inventory is maintained
• Review of buyer plant controlled items with attention to items that are high or fast-moving
• Understanding the MRP system which includes inventory target
• All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice
• Act as the liaison between buyers, sales, and production schedulers in expediting open production orders
• Review and update of weekly inventory lists

Position Requirements

• Proficiency within Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) required; experience within CRM tools (i.e. Salesforce.com) and SAP, AS400 or BlueZone operating platforms are a plus
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment
• Basic math skills including conversions, Algebra and Geometry; mechanical aptitude
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Understands the basics of product flow and inventory management
• Excellent professional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills required
• 2-4 years prior sales or industry experience required
