Overview


Under minimal supervision they act as primary buyer for all materials and finished products for the operation of the organization. The individual within this role would be accountable to support Production, Planning, and Internal Customers; through involvement in Plant activities/KPI/etc. Manages product purchases plans, purchasing, inventory replenishment and vendor-managed inventory programs. Participates in raw materials and finished goods price negotiations. Insures consistent inventory flow to minimize stock outs and meet or exceed inventory turns.


R ESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish delivery schedules and VMI agreements with vendors to optimize MOQ,
  • Issue PO's, support production requirements
  • Ability to support policy development
  • Understanding of production flow principles and processes
  • Thorough understanding of supply chain principles, able to teach junior members basic and advanced concepts including but limited to manufacturing strategies, planning strategies, inventory strategies.
  • Capable of authoring and recommending policy changes
  • Competency to support policy development
  • Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situation, respond well to questions, participate in meetings, write clearly and informatively, read and comprehend written information
  • Well read on state of the art supply chain processes
  • Well versed on all aspects of Supply Chain policy and regulatory compliance
  • APICS certification preferred
  • Manage/track expedites
  • Ensure proper disposition of inventory including part obsolescence and disposal
  • Pursue part maintenance updates
  • Strong project management skills
  • Establish opportunity for long term supplier agreements with key suppliers

  • Able to create and implement plans for strategic suppliers
  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or other relevant field; AA degree may be considered

  • Five (5) years experience in. purchasing, production planning, production management, or sourcing.
  • Demonstrate competency in planning, organization, professionalism and adaptability; prioritizing and planning work activities; use time efficiently, approach others in a tactful manner, adapt to changes in the work environment, attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft office applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Experienced user of supply chain analytical tools, able to teach junior members advanced techniques to analyze data
  • Demonstrate ability to achieve results
  • Creates and provides concise reports/graphical data to senior management
  • Thorough understand of MRP principles, able to identify and teach junior members parameters affecting the material plan
