Job Description


About the Buying Team


As the Buyer, West Elm Global you will manage a Division of the West Elm brand, responsible for the management of specific product categories and are the manager of key franchise partners and regions of the world. Our job on the West Elm Global team is to bring the US presentation of the brand to life within each global market. We work to maintain the brand identity while making strategic adjustments to the assortment and presentation specific to each market in order to maximize sales potential and profitability.


Responsibilities


  • Provide guidance & deliver on financial plans for your category & Franchisees business (Growth %, Sales, MMU$, Inventory). Develop seasonal + foundational assortment strategies and lead the planning & execution both pre-season and in season
  • Drive retail store & ecommerce execution of your Franchisee; recommend marketing and signage execution. Close partnership with store Visual, Store operations and Ecommerce marketing teams
  • Provide leadership and ongoing training and development to create positive team environment
  • Review & advise pricing strategy through in depth competitive and market analysis
  • Make recommended assortment changes using market knowledge, competitive details and sales analysis to maximize sales potential by market
  • Recommend effective processes and procedures to support market growth, workflow, and delivering results
  • Participate in visual mapping process to ensure floor plan direction supports market-specific and store-specific visual display and sales plans.
  • Provide Order Management with final assortment plans (line lists), product details, ELC/ALCs, for developing purchase projections and buy plans
  • Provide insights & guidance on promo and markdown strategies to Franchise partner to ensure inventory targets and sales are met each season
  • Responsible for in season management of a product categories, and OTB management in partnership with Franchise team
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external brand partners
  • Partner with logistics teams (QA, testing, shipping) to clear road blocks to successful sales and execution
  • Participate in product development process for your product categories managing global exclusives and global testing protocols. Coordinate and communicate product details to West Elm Global market partners
  • Represent West Elm brand and be able to share product knowledge, sales information and make recommendations to external (Franchise) partners based on thorough financial analysis to drive their success
  • Manage information across functions working closely with Inventory Management, Sourcing, Product Design, Production, Packaging and Creative Services to ensure the process is followed and timelines met


Criteria


  • International / franchise experience preferred -- travel required
  • 5-10 years retail merchandising/buying or retail home furnishings planning experience
  • Strong understanding of the brand customer and aesthetic
  • 2+ years people management experience
  • Presentation skills required
  • Strong Excel skills (pivots, formulas, data sourcing)

The expected starting pay range for this position is $88,100-104,400.. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
