Job Summary

The Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist’s role is to strategically design and implement BI software and systems, including integration with databases, data warehouses, and ETL Tools. This includes selecting, blueprinting, gathering requirements, designing, and rolling out BI solutions to end users. The Business Intelligence Specialist is also responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions using the Power BI platform.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, create data models, develop interactive visualizations, and deliver insightful reports and dashboards.

Job Responsibilities

• Monitor Business Objects systems using Central Management Console (CMC) and BI Administration Console
• Conduct data validation and quality checks to ensure data integrity and troubleshoot any data-related issues
• Troubleshoot BI tools, systems, and software; performance-tune these applications as necessary
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand reporting needs, and translate them into effective data visualizations and actionable insights
• Perform data analysis, data profiling, and data modeling to ensure data accuracy and consistency for reporting purposes
• Produce ETL design guidelines to ensure a manageable ETL infrastructure for the BI systems
• Work with project managers to ensure that data entry, retrieval, change, and delete functions meet business requirements for project completion
• Support reporting needs of the business through Web Intelligence reports, Crystal Reports, Power BI
• Manage security through CMC to users, groups, folders, and universes
• Assist in Creating Reports in Business Objects 4.2
• Design and deliver end-user training and training materials and provide technical support as necessary
• Extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources into BI systems to create meaningful datasets for reporting

Minimum Requirements

• Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including data modeling, DAX expressions, and advanced report development
• Ability to analyze user requirements and build front-end BI applications according to specifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in SAP Business Objects and Microsoft Power BI development
• Knowledge of relational database management and data warehousing
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate insights and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team managing multiple priorities with strict deadlines
• Must be proficient in SQL including joins, inserts, updates, deletes, conditional logic, subqueries, temp tables, and complex data transformation functions

Preferred Experience

• Comprehensive data warehouse analysis and design experience, with full knowledge of data warehouse methodologies and data modeling
• Sound understanding of Database Technology with SQL skills to write advanced functions and procedures
• Understands ODI Master Repository, Work Repository, ODI Development systems and ODI Production Systems
• Experience with ETL tools such as Oracle Data Integrator 12
• Recent experience in Business Objects version 4.2 CMC, Universe and Folder Security, Group Security, Instance Manager, SIA, CCM
• Experienced in using Oracle ODI Studio Version 12 and understands Models, Load Plans and Scenarios, Packages, Mappings, Procedures, Variables, Sequences, Knowledge Modules is a plus
• Expertise in Business Objects 4.2 Universe Design Tool and Information Design Tool including universes with multiple contexts
