The Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist role is critical to the success of the Core Lines Product Management team as they work to achieve their goals of increasing speed to market, growing (and retaining) market share/revenue, improving the customer value perception, and communicating operational transparency. The BI Specialist will need to combat a lack of standardization, centralization, and consistency in data availability by developing repeatable frameworks for accessing and analyzing data to develop actionable insights regarding the state of the business.
Job Responsibilities
  • Verisk-based market studies/reports (where permissible)
  • Product development research and planning
  • Competitive intelligence baselining
  • Establish foundation for:
  • General business health
  • Work closely with key business partners and stakeholders to ensure data is consistently and accurately reconciled between various data sets (when needed)
  • Renewal/new business conversation support
  • Enable foundational understanding of Core Lines’ operational performance, including but not limited to:
  • Data-driven prioritization and decision-making (both strategic and opportunity-specific)
  • Performance relative to market
  • Meaningful customer segmentation
  • Standardized, regular cadence of confident reporting, accelerating/reducing delivery timeframes
  • Support for business and strategic decisions
Qualifications
  • Excellent research and analytical skills; Knowledge of insurance industry trends and emerging issues is a plus
  • A keen understanding of data management fundamentals, including concepts such as data dictionaries, data models, validation, and reporting
  • Expert in MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel (including Pivot tables, Vlookups, etc.)
  • Experience in preparing and conducting extensive data analysis to provide actionable insights into key business performance metrics, including the development of Dashboards and Visualizations
  • Ability to manage competing, high priority demands and prioritize workloads while managing projects and multiple responsibilities against strict deadlines
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Business Intelligence and/or Data Analytics required; Product Management or other insurance-related experience is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience
  • Strong interpersonal/collaboration skills
  • Experience with SQL, Snowflake, and PowerBI required; technical familiarity with development concepts and other formats such as XML, JSON, R, and Python are a plus
