Overview
This software development role involves analyzing, designing, and writing individual reports for the Epic Cogito application and other clinical and financial systems within Riverside using multiple software technologies. The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for maintaining and analyzing the requirements for new or modified reports/databases, implementing those requirements within the analytic reporting environment, and for safeguarding protected health information while demonstrating positive interpersonal skills to identify and resolve problems associated with implementation projects.

What you will do
  • Reviews upgrade documentation related to Cogito tools and content; determines best methods for implementing, disseminating, and training on the changes. Ensures all related reporting continues to function as expected. Ensures all assigned upgrade related tasks are completed on time.
  • Continually updates personal training, performance improvement, technical skills, and healthcare industry knowledge through Director approved training, certifications, customer shadowing, and topical health care industry educational opportunities.
  • Responds to special assignments and projects as directed by the Reporting Project Manager.
  • Successful validation and on-going maintenance of reports in the foundation system / Application. Successful development of new reporting and optimization of existing reporting to support the strategic needs of RHS. Reporting can include extracts, reports, dashboards, spreadsheets, databases, etc. Utilizing appropriate tools, designs, develops, validates, and tests reporting. Ensures the accuracy of deliverables are within the guidelines of customer expectations. Balances workload based on prioritization of operational and project team leadership. Identifies the root cause of any data discrepancies and facilitates issue resolution, documentation and communication to stakeholders. Provides assistance to department team members to support departmental projects and needs. Monitors Service Now ticket volume and shares in the responsibility of evaluation, documentation, and completion of report requests in Service Now.
  • Initiates timely communication and analyzes customer / project team reporting needs. Effectively engages the customer to determine the purpose of the report and identify “required” items versus “optional” items prior to starting any build. Cross checks for understanding and appropriateness of continuing build if/when a “partial report” or “multiple reports” may be more appropriate and/or the only option. Consistently communicates with customers and leadership about status, milestones, obstacles, etc. using all available means if necessary (including but not limited to Service Now, email, phone calls, meetings, etc.). Reinforces the use of Service Now report requests when they receive requests via email or other venues outside of the standard report request process. Sets up and facilitates meetings and includes appropriate project team members and operational stakeholders as needed. Initiates pro-active communication with leadership to request assistance with prioritization of request volume and/or critical issues.
  • Actively interacts and collaborates with customers and other Epic project team members to ensure time lines and project needs are met. Uses best practices as established by department, vendor, or project. Ensures professional presentation and accuracy, and completion of all related documentation. Attends and actively participates in meetings as assigned and/or required.

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelors Degree, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or Related Field (Required)

Experience
  • 1 year Related experience to include reporting systems/report creation/maintenance/SQL tuning and data extraction/database concepts and query tools/ EPIC Reporting Applications (Required)

Licenses and Certifications
  • EPIC Certifications (Relevant) within 120 Days (Required)
  • EPIC Certification(s) in Cogito applications within 1 Year (Preferred)
