Job Description
University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a full time Business Intelligence Developer to support the Clinical Analytics department. This position has the opportunity to be hybrid and fully remote will be considered. This position will have room for growth on the career ladder. With organizational growth this department is the source of analytical solutions to drive improvement.


Currently we need a talented Business Intelligence Developer I with analytical and programming capabilities, to develop and maintain reports and services using tools like SSRS and SSIS. The Business Intelligence Developer I will work with clients to define, analyze and document complex business and reporting requirements. The Business Intelligence Developer I will perform analysis and data extraction/manipulation in an evolving data environment under the direction of upper-level Analysts. In addition to technical skills, this position will require business process analysis and interpersonal skills and the ability to provide information consumable by senior business decision makers.In this role, you will provide support for analytic activities to include: requirements gathering and data designs, development of analytic tools and reporting capabilities under the direction of upper-level Analysts. This position will use BI tools to drive clinical and operational improvement throughout the organization


Responsibilities:


  • Responds to unfamiliar, undefined, or unexpected situations with a professionally prescribed standard response.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment a must.
  • Evaluate and document client needs, including current processes and proposed revisions. Documents requirements, defines scope and objectives under the direction of upper-level Analysts.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (Mathematics, Economics, Health Care, Information Management or Statistics) is required.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of relational databases (SQL Server preferred), database structures, SSMS, and SSRS.
  • Ability to effectively approach problem solving.
  • Develop and maintain reports and services using tools like SSMS and SSRS. Work with clients to define, analyze and document complex business and reporting requirements under the direction of upper-level Analysts.
  • Possess analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and prepare standard and ad hoc reports in a timely and meaningful way with attention to detail and accuracy with minimal supervision or direction from supervisor.
  • Maintain working relationships with business partners, professional peers, other team members, and external contacts as appropriate.
  • Minimum one year of relevant professional experience required in requirements gathering, analysis, design, database development or reporting analysis.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to all levels within the organization.
  • Meet deadlines and turnaround times set by managers and department director (these deadlines and turnaround times will, at times, require the employee to work until the project is completed, meaning extended daily work hours, extended work weeks, or both).
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, enthusiasm and initiative on a daily basis.
  • Ability to support multiple tasks and projects, and forge strong interpersonal relationships within the department, with other departments, and with external audiences.
  • Attention to detail is critical to the success of this position, with demonstrated competency in customer orientation and the ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Must be flexible and willing to perform other tasks as assigned by the manager or upper-level analysts.
  • Assist other Business Systems Analysts as necessary.
  • Completes on-going training on-the-job, through courses and self-study to maintain and enhance technical capabilities.
  • Effective communication, documentation, organizational, analytical, and problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to interpret and summarize results of various analyses in a timely and meaningful way.
