Summary:


Throughout the Boston Celtics’ history, they have long stood for equality and respect, including drafting the first African American player, hiring the first African American coach, and playing the first all-black starting five. The Celtics have won a record 17 NBA Championships spanning five (5) decades, including eight (8) in a row from 1959-1966, and winning their most recent in 2008. In addition, forty-one (41) former Celtics players, management, coaches, or staff have been inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. In December 2002 the team returned to local ownership for the first time since 1963.


Are you passionate about the synergy between data and analytics in the sports industry? If so, we have an exciting opportunity available! We are seeking someone who is eager to make an immediate impact by driving key insights into our fans' experiences. In this role, you will play a vital part in collecting, organizing, and analyzing fan data from various platforms, providing valuable guidance to our ticket sales, service, and digital marketing efforts.


Responsibilities:


  • Conduct regular primary research to help the organization better understand its fan base and evaluate new fan engagement opportunities and technologies
  • Own and add to a set of Tableau workbooks that contain compelling visualizations in order to present key observations and insights
  • Lead the development of data models that forecast ticket demand and sales run-ups, predict fan renewal likelihood, inform pricing, packaging, and digital marketing decisions
  • Perform campaign analytics, including assessing sales and service representative performance
  • Manage ticketing and other transaction related reports, providing insights to key stakeholders across multiple departments
  • Oversee the development of SQL scripts used to automate the transfer of data from the organization’s data warehouse into Tableau server data sources
  • Leverage profile, transactional and behavioral data to develop strategic fan segments that drive the organization’s relationship marketing efforts across all channels, particularly email


Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with large datasets, customer data, and predictive analytics
  • General understanding of data, reporting, and analytics
  • Proficiency with visualization software, preferably Tableau
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, data science, statistics, or related subject areas
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
  • Self-starter with a genuine passion for developing ideas and projects from the ground up
  • Prior experience with computer programming languages, like Python, a plus
  • Proven track record of simplifying complex business problems
  • Familiarity with relational database languages, preferably Amazon Redshift SQL
  • Ability to think critically, solve problems, and demonstrate a growth mindset consistently
