The Building Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the building’s plumbing, electrical, and other systems to ensure that they are in proper working order at all times. This individual will inspect buildings and grounds for unsafe conditions and address them immediately, as well as replace or repair malfunctioning equipment. It is important for the Building Maintenance Assistant to ensure a safe, clean, and sanitary work environment. As a representative of the Facilities Department, this individual is expected to present oneself in a manner that reflects professionalism and upholds company standards.
Compensation:
Compensation for this role is $24.00 - $30.00 per hour and is based on experience.
Requirement
  • Adhere to clock in/clock out procedures
  • Interact with and assist guests as needed
  • Follow all company and safety guidelines
  • Ensure all building lighting, power, and general building equipment are in good working order
  • Assist other departments with various tasks as needed
  • Follow work schedule and complete tasks on time
  • Maintain personal sanitary guidelines and COVID-19 protocols

Essential Skills and Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty in a satisfactory manner. The
requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required for this position:
  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor.
  • Experience with general maintenance, tools, power equipment, ladders, and hydraulic lifts.
  • Ability to read and write English and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to follow all safety rules.
  • Minimum 1 year of prior work experience in a physically demanding field of building maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret instructions/ directions on any provided equipment or chemical products used in the department.
  • Ability to document and communicate with other team members.
  • Highly organized and attention to detail.
Required Qualifications:
Prior experience or licensure in the following trades:
  • Carpentry/ Painting
  • HVAC
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This job operates in a warehouse/office environment, as well as an interactive museum/art exhibit. This role routinely uses hand tools, power tools, chemicals, and other tools of the trade. Employees may be required to lift up to 75 lbs. Requires the ability to be on one’s feet the majority of the shift, including bending, kneeling, or climbing ladders. Must be able to follow a PM schedule and maintain good records. Employee must adhere to all training guidelines and OSHA regulations (including COVID 19 protocols) while on site.
The employee will comply with company and OSHA standard workplace safety protocols.
Work Schedule:
Schedules are based on business levels. It requires a flexible schedule to accommodate times the exhibit is closed to the public. Occasional evening, overnight and weekend work are required as job duties demand.
