Job Description

The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI’s brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. DFA serves the university as planning partners, problem solvers, and solution providers—striving to make it as easy as possible for people to get the services they need, when they need them. The Budget Office serves as a planning resource for campus leadership and all UCI units. The Budget Office provides analysis, reporting, financial modeling, and advice on fiscal policies, procedures, and resource deployment. Functions include base budget, staffing, fund management, student fee oversight, campus budget allocations, tracking of actuals to budget, and fiscal sustainability.
Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and organizational policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Contacts are both internal and external to the department. Under general direction, the incumbent provides analysis and recommendations to upper-level decision makers on a variety of complex, campus-wide issues, focusing on the resource needs of academic and/or administrative units throughout the campus.

$73,900.00 - $95,000.00 (Annual Salary) Expected Pay Range within the Full Salary Range $73,900.00 - $133,700.00 (Annual Salary)


Required:
3 or more years of relevant work experience
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Thorough knowledge of finance and fee policies/management principles, practices, and systems, including forecasting and reporting techniques. Ability to independently gather required information to organize and perform financial analysis assignments. Proven ability to effectively present finance, budget, and policy information both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Proven interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; strong service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Proven ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high-volume environment. Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Ability to function as a member of a team and proactively resolve problems. Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources Ability to work independently, ensuring work is consistent with goals and objectives of the unit.
