Hiring Department


Missouri Agricultural Experiment Station (MOAES) Field Operations


This position is part of the field operations program stationed at MU South Farm and is responsible for building, remodeling and maintaining a variety of farm (animal, equipment, commodity, etc) and office buildings throughout Missouri at the CAFNR Research Centers. This position works as a team member with two other BTS carpenters and a heavy equipment operator. Week long overnight travel for up to four consecutive weeks is possible. Working conditions are both inside and outside in extreme heat and cold. Building types can be wood or metal and will include both construction and interior finish work. Footing and concrete pad forming, pouring and finishing is routine for each construction project.

$16.68 - $28.05

Shift


8 hours/day Monday - Friday beginning at 7:00 a.m.


Minimum Qualifications

  • A valid driver’s license may be required.
  • Depending on the nature of work performed, the incumbent may be required to wear a respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) as outlined in the “Industrial Standard for Respirator Use”.
  • Climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding.
  • Grasp, lift, carry, and set down heavy (50-80 lbs.) objects on a daily basis.
  • Ability to read blueprints, plans, and drawings.
  • Visually assess maintenance, construction and repair needs.
  • Skill in maintenance and use of tools, equipment and materials of applicable trade.
  • Grasp, turn, twist, pull, push, left, and otherwise move equipment, controls, parts, etc.
  • Ability on a daily basis to:
    • Grasp, lift, maneuver, rotate, and otherwise use small to large trades tools and equipment.
    • Grasp, lift, carry, and set down heavy (50-80 lbs.) objects on a daily basis.
    • Grasp, turn, twist, pull, push, left, and otherwise move equipment, controls, parts, etc.
    • Visually assess maintenance, construction and repair needs.
    • Climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding.
  • A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
  • Grasp, lift, maneuver, rotate, and otherwise use small to large trades tools and equipment.
  • Four years of actual work experience and training including the equivalent of apprenticeship or vocational training in the trade.

Preferred Qualifications


5 years experience in carpentry work.
