  • Come work at a place where innovation and teamwork come together to support the most exciting missions in the world!** **Job Title:** Birth Center RN - Lactation Consultant **Cost Center:** 301191326 ECHos-Womens Health **Scheduled Weekly Hours:** 30 **Employee Type:** Regular **Work Shift:** Variable (United States of America) **:** **JOB SUMMARY** The Lactation Consultant works to provide care to breastfeeding mothers, babies and families while inpatient at Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) with a primary focus on the Birth Center and NICU (where applicable). This may also include other inpatient units at MCHS and patients receiving care at the Marshfield Clinic.
This individual collaborates with the primary care physician to provide coordination of the patient plan of care in relation to breastfeeding and breastfeeding support. The Lactation Consultant works with the patient, family, significant other(s) and interdisciplinary team members to develop an individualized plan of care to include educational and discharge planning interventions. Together with interdisciplinary team members, the Lactation Consultant utilizes the nursing process to deliver care for specified patients. **WORK SHIFT** 30 hours a week, variable shifts. There is a 12 hour staffing requirement per pay period on the unit. **JOB QUALIFICATIONS** **EDUCATION** _For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation._ **Minimum Required:**
Diploma or associate's degree in nursing. **Preferred/Optional:**
Bachelor's degree. **EXPERIENCE** **Minimum Required:**
Two years clinical experience in hospital setting.
Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles. **Preferred/Optional:**
Experience in pediatrics/neonatal or obstetrics. **CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES** _The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position.
Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position._ **Minimum Required:**
Current unrestricted State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse license. International Board Certified Lactation Consultant certification awarded by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) within one year.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire. **Preferred/Optional:**
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant certification awarded by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) at time of hire.
