CarbonDrop is on a mission to tackle climate change at a truly impactful scale, with a goal to capture dozens of gigatonnes of CO2 per year at a cost of $1-5/tonne -- our novel approach takes advantage of photosynthesis to enhance carbon capture and sequester CO2 over geologically-relevant timescales.CarbonDrop aims to capture enough CO2 to significantly offset the world’s current emissions and set our planet on a sustainable path without compromising food sources or world economic development.

What You’ll Do

• Document hardware design, experimental details and findings
• Communicate the results of your research and experiments to the Director of Scientific Research and other CarbonDrop scientists
• Conduct wet lab experiments, data analysis and communicate results to Scientists
• Help members of the team perform their research projects in a collaborative manner, maintain research equipment and maintain and order reagents
• Work within the Carbon Fixation Team and/or the Molecular Toolkit Team
• Perform engineering and characterization experiments including but not limited to PCR, Gibson assembly, Western blots, plate reader assays, microscopy, DNA/RNA extraction and sequencing
• Assist in the establishment and build out of our laboratory environment for growing algae, performing molecular biology and physiological measurements

Who You Are

• Strong communicator, both verbally and written
• Bachelor or Master of Science degree in biology, molecular biology, plant biology,biochemistry or biotechnology, with a preference for candidates with experience working with algae
• Quick to assimilate new ideas with the ability to deliver exciting presentations
• Self-starter with strong organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Bonus if you have experience with growing, maintaining and/or culturing algae
• A track record of conducting results-driven research
• Entrepreneurial and innovative mindset with a demonstrated history of developing or implementing new ideas/technologies within a company or academic lab environment
• Experience in collaborative interactions and completing projects with multiple participants

Compensation

Compensation for this position is commensurate with research experience, academic credentials, relevant qualifications and other job related skills.The salary range for this position is $75k - 85k.We also offer equity in an early-stage startup and the benefits listed below.
