Bilingual Translator/Interpreter - Japanese

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for listening to, understanding, and translating spoken or written statements from English to Japanese and vice versa. Reproduce statements in Japanese for unique listening or reading audience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Edit and proofread text to accurately reflect language.
• Facilitate effective communication between two parties that do not speak a similar language by converting spoken or written Japanese to English.
• Interpret both medical terminology and colloquial language.
• Attend conferences and meetings and act as official translator to mediate discussion.
• Convert written materials from Japanese into English, such as books, publications, or web pages and vice versa.
• Employ computer-assisted translation.
• Relay concepts and ideas between languages.
• Receive and submit assignments electronically.
• Provide Japanese translation services to clinical trial subjects with limited English proficiency.
• Other duties as assigned
• Translate subject materials and informational brochures issued by sponsors and Clinilabs into Japanese.
• Use dictionaries and glossaries for reference.
• Create a new text in the target language that reproduces the content and style of second language.

TRAVELING

Travel between New Jersey HQ and New York locations, as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Individuals with college degrees or advanced degrees are preferred.
• The position requires at least HS diploma with at least and at least 1 year of translation experience.
• Must possess excellent written and oral communication, good interpersonal skills, and must be able to provide accurate documentation of his or her work.
• Must be fluent in Japanese and English, both written and verbal.
• Foreign equivalence of a degree in health field is acceptable.
