Job description:
Do you want to experience daily wins that make others’ lives better? Are you creative, coachable, and able to take the initiative when the “fit hits the shan?” Do you love problem-solving and collaborating with teams? If you answered “Heck, yes!” then keep reading.

Utah Behavior Services is Utah’s premier behavioral healthcare provider, dedicated to creating successful children and developing strong families through high-quality, evidence-based behavioral healthcare. We serve Utah families from Brigham City to St.
George and everywhere in between. We are serious about our work of providing hope and evidence-based solutions for those in crisis.

This position is NOT for someone who is simply looking for a paycheck or a babysitting job. We’re looking for a role model who thrives on connection with others and is passionate about inspiring hope and resiliency in the therapeutic environment and workplace. This is a place for someone with high levels of patience, empathy, and compassion. We need an ambitious, optimistic team member who is eager to learn and can problem-solve the hell out of anything.

What Winning Looks Like:
● Strengthening families through demonstrating clinical competency in evidence-based approaches. (Don't worry, we’ll train you.)
● Striving for excellence by presenting yourself as a polished professional. (Yes, we have a dress code, and you must be on time.)
● Striving to work as a team by cultivating optimism, building morale, and promoting open communication. (No drama! Ain’t nobody got time for that.)

Behavior Technician Requirements:
● 18 years or older.
● High school diploma or above.

● Driver's license and reliable transportation that can be used to get to and from work and to transport clients for community outings.

● Pass federal and state background checks.
● Physical Requirements: Due to the active and physical nature of this position, there are vision and physical requirements that must be met in order to effectively function in this position. The children that we provide services may exhibit physically aggressive behavior, which can include throwing objects, kicking, pinching, punching, biting, etc. The Behavior Technician may be required to respond to such behavior by implementing a Behavior Intervention
Plan that may include things such as response blocking, redirecting, extinction, and restraint. Such a response may require a level of agility, quick reflex, and the ability to physically protect themselves and the child from harm.
Accordingly, a Behavior Technician must meet the following additional requirements: o Strength and mobility requirements include being able to perform a variety of physical movements, including lifting and carrying (up to
50 lbs.), kneeling, sitting, bending, running, and squatting. o Vision requirements including close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distant vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); peripheral vision ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or the left or right while eyes are fixed on a given point sufficient to provide safety to employee, staff, and clients); and depth perception
(three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distance and spatial relationships).

● Ability to maintain confidentiality about the clients, families, staff, and any other protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA.

● Ability to work at least 21 hours per week, including 3 evening shifts (4 pm-7 pm).

● Other requirements as more specifically set forth in the complete RBT Job
Description, Employment Agreement, and other onboarding documents.

Essential Functions:
● Independently conducts 1:1 Behavior Therapy shifts (at least 2.5 hours in length per shift) using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.
● Address Behavior Service Plan (BSP) objectives using procedures approved by the Supervising Clinician.
● Attend and participate in supervision sessions to review child progress and Behavior Technician work performance with the
Program Supervisor.

● Collect and record data accurately and efficiently in accordance with policies established by UTBS and the standards of the field.

● Demonstrate creativity and flexibility with program delivery and engagement with the child.

● Demonstrate self-motivation, time management skills, and above all, an ability to support teammates and the company as a united team for each client and family.

● Communicate clearly and effectively in English to parents/caregivers.
● Complete all required documentation in a thorough, professional, and timely manner, according to UTBS policies and procedures.
● Display honesty and integrity in all elements of job performance and interactions with teammates due to the independent, field-based nature of home and community-based ABA.

● Abide by all Utah and federal rules and regulations guiding ABA and Mental
Health services, including, but not limited to:

❖ Behavior Technician and RBT standards and ethical guidelines of the
Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB)

❖ HIPAA (Health Information Privacy and Accountability Act)

❖ Ethical Principles and Codes of Conduct of the American

Psychological Association (Chapters 3. Human Relations, 4.

● Behavior Technicians are expected to earn their RBT credential within the first 3 months of employment. This requires the following:

❖ Completion of 40 hours of training, completed within 45 days or according to the schedule provided. This may be a combination of online video modules, classroom-style instruction, hands-on shadowing and field experience, and other methods as deemed appropriate by UTBS.
