Job Summary
In this role, you will combine the skills of an efficient and disciplined bartender with a vibrant and dynamic personality, all while effortlessly preparing cocktails and providing guests with outstanding service. Your conscientious attention to beverage quality, consistency and ability to establish and uphold the highest standards – from allday to Patio – constantly seek to “wow” guests at Durham’s newest lifestyle hotel in the heart of downtown.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet patrons proactively and with a smile
- Label and date all fruit and portioned bar items
- Ensure any necessary cocktail prep is completed
- Communicate to servers regarding any 86 beverage items and/or menu changes
- Ensure correct pour amount for liquor, beer and wine
- Be knowledgeable about current beverage and food offerings and able to make recommendations as needed
- Be knowledgeable about POS functions, including starting tabs, labeling checks, ringing in orders, separating checks and taking payment
- Make specialty cocktails according to recipe sheet
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly cleaning tasks
- Restock the bar as needed throughout the shift
- Alert manager/supervisor of any guest dissatisfaction
- Be friendly, helpful and ensure guest satisfaction
- Manage waste by using the monthly spill sheet
- Carry out any reasonably assigned tasks as requested by the GM, F&B Manager, Culinary Manager or F&B Supervisor
- Step in as a server or support to the F&B team as needed

Required Qualifications
A high school diploma and 2-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Prior experience required, lifestyle/boutique hotel experience preferred. High school degree preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally with other business departments, guests, and vendors. Ability to diplomatically deal with difficult situations and people, while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, or telephone. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10-25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Housekeeping duties include frequent bending and other repetitive body movements.
