Job Description
POSITION: Banquet Manager
DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage
REPORTS TO: GM
FLSA STATUS: $50,000-$60,000 Salary/Exempt
ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent opening for a Banquet Manager at the Jekyll Island Convention Center. The Banquet Manager oversees all Banquet Functions to include coffee breaks, buffet, plated and reception events. All functions serving any food & beverage items.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Fulfills all requirements as designated by clients and as detailed in each Banquet Event Order (BEO)
  • Ensures the complete room set in a timely manner prior to event time as laid out in event diagrams
  • Conducts regular inventory of non-alcoholic beverage, alcohol, paper good, linen, etc. and places orders with appropriate suppliers/vendors to ensure timely delivery for event execution
  • Process payroll timekeeping for inhouse and temporary workers in a timely manner
  • Maintains all service/set-up equipment cleanliness and functionality through routine preventative maintenance.
  • Attends in-house event-related meetings and communicates any necessary revisions to relevant staff both within and outside the banquet department
  • Interacts with clients and their attendees in a professional manner to strengthen the property’s reputation through professional communication
  • Responsible for continuous training, coaching, and discipline of all banquet server/set-up employees and bartenders
  • Maintains a Health Department and internal sanitation audit score of 95 or higher through ongoing in-house inspections of food service areas to ensue equipment and building meet requirements of state, local and internal health laws, and regulations
  • Facilitates proper staffing (including 3rd party contractors) for set-up, execution, and breakdown of all events and maintains the employee schedule to complete all necessary tasks
  • Oversees Food & Beverage operations during events to ensure client satisfaction and quality control standards, including providing daily consumption of beverages and oversight of bar set up with alcohol.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Serve-safe certified preferred
  • At least two years of management experience in high volume banquet facility setting and servicing large events including alcohol serving
  • Must pass background check
  • Computer skills including use of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Excellent communication skills across all mediums, including oral, written, and digital
  • Excellent organizational, planning, communication, and inter-personal skills with a high focus on hospitality
  • Full availability of schedule including willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays based on customer needs
  • Ability to undertake and complete multiple tasks while remaining attentive to the minute details
  • Familiarity reading Profit and Loss statements and financial reports and the ability to use the information to meet company and property financial goals
WORK CONTACTS:
Daily contact with the Executive Chef, General Manager, Catering Sales Manager, Event Manager, and other team members.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Training of all Banquet employees
  • Supervises all hourly front-of-house Food & Beverage Staff
