Farmington Hills, MI (Hybrid) Full-time Mid-Senior level


About The Job


We are currently hiring due to retirement for an AVP, IT Data & Analytics. This role will be hybrid, working two days a week in our Farmington Hills office. The ideal candidate will also possess the following skill set.


Summary Statement


Leads data and analytics strategy and delivery in support of the business vision, including customer, digital, and technology strategies. Manages the organization's Enterprise Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence, and Analytics teams including oversight of data origination and curation processes, reporting, insight generation, and advanced technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence. Partners with other departments to produce data models and business insights.


Essential Tasks/Major Duties


  • Proactively partners with business leaders to deliver business outcomes, particularly corporate actuarial, underwriting, product, and claims.
  • Accountable for integrating internal and external data, enterprise data warehouse curation, data quality, data modeling, and data accessibility.
  • Manage, train, coach, and lead direct reports to create a high performing team.
  • Partner with Security and Data Governance teams to secure and ensure high quality data.
  • Lead delivery and adoption of business/user self-service reporting capabilities.
  • Partner with IT Leadership Team to define and deliver overall technology and organization strategy.
  • Accountable for the strategy and delivery of the data and analytics technology roadmaps and initiatives.
  • Build, lead, and inspire the Data and Analytics team to lead the continuous evolution of the Amerisure enterprise analytics ecosystem and analytics-driven culture.
  • Lead the Data and Analytics technology strategy to enable and influence business strategy.
  • Research and coordinate the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future data and analytics technologies in alignment with Amerisure's technology architecture roadmap.
  • Lead delivery and maintenance of data and analytics architecture that enables fact-based decision making via both pre-defined and ad hoc analysis.
  • Maintain and apply proficiency in emerging and advanced data and analytics techniques and technologies to optimize value delivery.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Analytics, or related field.
  • Familiarity with and use of modern tools and concepts used in data warehouse and analytics environments such as data visualization, performance dashboards, master data management, data architecture, data quality, reporting tools, real-time pipelines, iPaaS, and data mining.
  • Ability to adapt and learn new skills in a changing environment.
  • Ability to inform, educate, and influence managers and employees to support business intelligence goals and initiatives.
  • Ten (10) years work experience managing resources, projects, and operational activities in an IT department.
  • Solid business acumen with proven ability to provide valuable analytic business solutions.
  • Insurance or financial services industry experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective and collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to communicate with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to partner with and manage the performance of vendors, contractors and/or third parties.
  • Demonstrated experience in Agile delivery methodologies and AWS cloud-based data and analytics tools and technologies.
  • Twelve (12) years work experience in a corporate data warehouse and/or business intelligence analytics environment.
  • Strong preference for knowledge and experience with Guidewire data and analytics products.
