The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated Automotive Mechanic (Mid-Level) for our San Antonio, TX office location.
Performs routine and unscheduled preventive maintenance on company owned vehicles and personal vehicles enrolled in the Executive Vehicle Care Service program. Ensures all vehicles are kept in working order and responds to automotive needs as requested or required by fleet customers and executive staff members.
This role will be on-call on a rotating schedule to include after normal business hours Monday through Friday and Weekends/Holidays.
What you'll do:
- Assist the Driver Services team on an as needed basis.
- Provides assistance to co workers to accomplish overall maintenance objectives.
- Fuels and washes all executive management group vehicles.
- Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on USAA fleet vehicles and executive's vehicles.
- Complies with EPA/OSHA regulations and maintains safe, clean and organized work environment.
- Responsible for technical updates to all computer scanner equipment, monthly lift inspections and waste stream disposal.
- Ensures warranty issues, recalls, or technical service bulletins on vehicles are handled appropriately.
- Completes work order entries and parts inventory log, plus additional administrative tasks to properly document repairs.
- Assists in providing 24/7 response for all company vehicles assigned to San Antonio HOB.
- Receives and prepares new fleet vehicles for usage and prepares current fleet vehicles for disposal or transition.
- Performs installation, diagnostics and repairs on telematic communication (Bluetooth cellular phone, GPS, DVD, alarms).
- Provides details on all functions and features of each vehicle to executives.
- Troubleshoots vehicle problems and performs repairs or ensures outsourced vehicle repairs are completed timely and appropriately.
What you have:
- 2 or more years of automotive mechanical experience.
- Ability to meet USAA safety driving requirements within 6 months of hire.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
- High School Diploma, General Equivalency Diploma, or applicable Trade School/Technical Diploma required.
What sets you apart:
- Experience as a Service Advisor within the automotive repair industry.
- Hands on Roadside assistance experience.
- Experience with a combination of professional communication skills and hands-on automotive mechanical knowledge.
- Basic Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Fleet Vehicle maintenance experience.

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $54,130.00 - $93,870.00.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
