Position Description


The Automation Engineer, Junior (Microsoft Power Platform & BI Tools) is responsible for the development and administration of Business Intelligence (BI) tools.


Minimum/General Experience: 2 years of experience in data-specific roles


Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science


Essential Skills/Qualifications


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively identify and discuss requirements with client teams and internal teams
  • Excellent problem-solving and analysis skills for translating data into informative reports and visuals
  • Knowledge in interactive reports and maintaining dashboards
  • Experience with BI Tools and Systems (e.g., Tableau and System Application and Product in Processing (SAP))
  • Above average knowledge of data analytics
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (e.g., Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate)
  • Knowledge in using advance level calculations on data sets


Security: Ability to obtain/maintain a Federal Civilian Public Trust


  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident that has lived in the United States for at least 3 years

  • DOD Defense Central Investigations Index (DCII)
  • Credit report check
  • Law enforcement check
  • Covers 5-10 year period and in some instances lifetime events
  • National Agency Check (NAC) records
  • FBI name check
  • FBI fingerprint check
  • OPM Security Investigations Index (SII)
  • Court records check
  • Written inquiries to previous employers and references listed on the application for employment
  • Education check- Attendance and Degrees
  • Potential interviews with the subject, spouse, neighbors, supervisor, coworkers


Tasks/activities Include, But Are Not Limited To


  • Designs methodology and project documentaries
  • Builds user-based access levels to reports, Key Performance Indicators (KPI) scorecards, and dashboards
  • Participates in creation and linkage of Relational Database/Tables
  • Develops visual reports, KPI scorecards, and dashboards using Power BI desktop
  • Connects data sources, importing data, and transforming data for Business Intelligence
  • Develops tabular and multidimensional models that are compatible with data warehouse standards
  • Builds Analysis Services reporting models
