Job Description

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting with the safe and efficient running of a folder gluer machine.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Able to understand and follow instructions on factory card, as well as instruction given by operator.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, effectively communicating with members of the crew.
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice
  • Responsible for training and performing assistant position as necessary.
  • Help locate dunnage, masters when not present machine center, as needed.
  • Communicate quality related issues back to operator and/or assistant operator.
  • Input information into system to create load tag.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures and work rules, including but not limited to safety and maintaining good housekeeping
  • Catches and packs boxes, and sets up master cartons.
  • Work with other helpers and crewmembers for maximum efficiency of operation.
  • Switch duties with other crewmembers, which may include feeding, pulling, stacking, and packing, as required.
  • Set up & operate bundling/squaring machine or case sealer when required.
  • Assist with training the helpers with job duties on the machine.
  • As needed, responsible for moving from one machine center/area to another, as dictated by production needs and supervisory direction.
  • Responsible for all assisting with activities associated with running a specialty folder gluer including cleanup, setup, preparation of area with equipment and/or materials, such as case labels and/or special load tags, according to order requirements.
  • Regular attendance and timeliness are required.

Decision Making:

Under direct supervision, the Folder Gluer Helper is expected to perform routine assignments, tasks, and troubleshooting within existing procedures and standards. The position is responsible for making determinations regarding appropriate procedures to apply in resolving issues or completing tasks. This position defers complicated issues to the attention of operator, assistant or shift supervisor. This position is expected to seek supervisor guidance if questions occur.

Interactions:

Internally, the Folder Gluer Helper interacts with co-workers and supervisors. This position is part of a crew of four individuals.

Position Requirements:

  • Ability to recognize numbers and number sequences.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Able to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing environment, with varying temperatures based on season, around machinery, and heavy forklift traffic.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice, both during the week and weekends.
  • High school diploma/GED.
