WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
The Technical Production Lead will take on the role of communicating with event managers and clients to determine staffing and operational needs for events. This role will also determine and manage budgets to execute events and oversee staff direction for larger scale events. During on-site events, you will oversee technical staff and part-time/contract associates to ensure the job is completed in a timely manner according to client specifications. When not working on specific events, you will perform warehouse duties such as gear prep/restoration in preparation for upcoming events. Assisting with other events may also be required.
The ideal candidate will perform at an expert level in technical event production (audio, video, lighting, etc.) and be both client-facing and a team leader. This role is an independent contributor who will directly train with the department lead on interpersonal and leadership skills required for advancement into management.
Responsibilities:
Execute production events as a technical lead and/or staff member
Manage on-site event staff including full time staff, contractors, and/or union labor
Setting up and operating equipment (A1, V1, L1, etc.)
Interface with clients and project managers to determine job scope and technical needs based on client needs, determine production staff requirement to execute event, and draft, propose, and negotiate quotes with client using Flex
Prepare and maintain gear and equipment in the warehouse for each event including regular maintenance of inventory and repairing equipment
Warehouse inventory maintenance using Flex
Act as a supporting role to other departments or show functions as needed
THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU NEED
Associate Degree required or equivalent experience; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
6 years’ A/V production experience with client interaction or related fields
Ability to obtain a DOT medical card and to drive a 26’ box truck and pickup/trailer combo
Rudimentary knowledge of all aspects of production technology; advanced working knowledge of at least one aspect of production technology (i.e., audio, video, lighting, etc.)
Knowledge of inventory control systems (such as Flex) and of safe working practices (PPE, Fall Protection, etc.)
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods
Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of telecommunications systems
Skilled in managing projects with tight deadlines, negotiating with clients to determine their needs based on requests
Skilled in interacting in professional environments, advising others on production technology and inventory system use
Skilled in running audio, video, and lighting productions
Skilled in critical thinking; using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
Ability to obtain a forklift and basic first aid certification
Ability to work on an event site in a safe manner, which includes taking instruction from more senior staff
