The University of Montevallo is a small, public liberal arts university located in Montevallo, Alabama, approximately 30 miles south of Birmingham—one of Alabama’s largest metropolitan areas. Montevallo was the second city in the state to enact a non-discrimination ordinance promoting equality and inclusivity among all individuals, regardless of race, religious status, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital status, and veteran status. Our campus community reflects this inclusivity with a diverse student body. In addition, UM’s liberal arts atmosphere fosters collaborative teaching and other academic endeavors. Smaller class sizes, relative to larger universities, allow faculty to be more engaged with students in the classroom and in advising their academic careers.

Please address correspondence to John Bawden, Ph.D., Chair of Search Committee.

Additional Statement
The University of Montevallo does not discriminate against job applicants based on their national origin or citizenship or immigration status. Because of the costs associated with visa sponsorship/transfer, the University typically will not sponsor applicants for a work visa or transfer of an existing visa. No commitment for visa assistance and/or sponsorship can be made until a thorough search is conducted, including a proper and methodical review of all applicants.

Diversity Statement
In keeping with the charge of the President’s Diversity Task Force, which is “…to implement practices that help the University recruit and retain a diverse workforce and to foster initiatives that promote an inclusive campus environment,” UM is actively seeking applicants who fully represent racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity.
