Job Description
Overview
The Associate Peer Review Specialist will independently launch, support, and maintain Sage’s electronic peer review sites and provide technical user support for journals, with a focus on Sage’s elite journals. This position will liaise closely with publishing editors, production staff, ScholarOne staff, and Sage’s journal editors and editorial offices to ensure effective and ethical use of Sage’s peer review systems. This role will manage and execute peer review projects with minimal supervision.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
The job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Work with publishing editors to launch journals in Sage Track as needed.
  • Oversee training of journal editorial offices, advising on best practice and ethical guidelines
  • Support the maintenance of documentation on Sage’s peer review policies and procedures.
  • Implement site-wide updates and changes as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of ScholarOne’s system development
  • Work with journal editorial offices to configure sites as required, advising editors on best practices and ethical considerations.
  • Manage projects or activities related to peer review as required, with minimal supervision.
  • Advise publishing editors on ScholarOne configuration and cost considerations.
  • Work with Sage’s production staff on issues related to both peer review and production.
  • Monitor performance of ScholarOne staff on a regular basis
  • Support Sage's peer review initiatives
  • Monitor and respond to technical support e-mail and phone calls from editors, authors, reviewers, and Journals Editorial staff.
  • Provide peer review support on journals, as required.
  • Attend ScholarOne meetings as required.
  • Build and run Sage Track reports as required.
Qualifications & Education
Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, analyze and establish priorities to achieve results. Must work well under pressure: highly motivated and energetic multi-tasker.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and adaptable approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting for one-off questions and larger project/process needs alike.
  • Ability to learn new skills, technologies, methods, and procedures quickly and effectively.
  • Prior experience working with peer review systems, preferably ScholarOne Manuscripts, and/or journals publishing, Sage Track experience a plus.
  • Must be proficient with software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in a customer/client support capacity. Experience working within Freshworks Freshdesk or customer support ticketing systems a plus.
  • Excellent professional written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently within a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively solve problems.

Compensation at Sage is influenced by several factors, including but not limited to skill set, nature and level of experience, qualifications, and other relevant considerations. We anticipate the minimum full-time salary range for this position to be between $41,000 - $45,000 . Please note that the compensation details listed in U.S. role postings reflect the base salary only and do not include bonuses or benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range and additional aspects of the compensation/benefits package for this position during the hiring process.
