Position Overview


As an Associate, M&A you will execute transactions in support of Invenergy’s pipeline growth and strategic objectives. You will lead transaction workstreams including diligence, valuation, financial modeling, origination, counterparty relationship management, deal structuring and negotiation, and market intelligence monitoring and analysis. The position is located at our headquarters in Chicago, Illinois and reports to the Vice President, M&A.


Responsibilities


  • Manage acquisition and divestiture transactions to ensure efficient deal completion and smooth transition of projects to Development, Construction, or Operations teams
  • Evaluate acquisition opportunities and provide recommendations to management on appropriate allocation of time and resources
  • Perform financial modeling and valuation in support of transactions
  • Manage day-to-day cross-functional internal diligence efforts for acquisition opportunities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with strategic counterparties
  • Maintain market intelligence and provide updates to management regarding transactions and structures being executed in the market
  • Assist in the origination of acquisitions based on continuous internal collaboration with the Development, Finance, Origination, Strategy, and Operations teams
  • Continually improve internal M&A process and usage of associated databases


Required Skills


  • Financial modeling skills in Excel with demonstrable experience developing and managing complex models
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and solve complex problems

  • Years of experience in renewable development or finance
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to distill complex issues and synthesize data for presentation to senior management
  • Ability to use discretion in handling confidential information
  • Ability to advance numerous projects in parallel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Preferred Attributes


  • Structured finance / project finance transaction experience
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree
