Job Description
What To Expect
The Associate Manager, Physical Security is responsible for supporting the GFTX Security Operations team and programs, to include compliance with the enterprise-wide security policy, security strategy, security operations, digital transformation, and security risk management. The role will provide direction and leadership necessary to manage risk at and ensure business alignment. The role is key in establishing a proactive, consultative, and business-aligned culture and approach to Tesla Security. This role will report to the Sr. Security Manager of GFTX.
What You’ll Do
  • Manage and mentor internal security team members, as well as contracted security teams
  • Supplementary security point of contact in incident command if Sr. Security Manager is unavailable. May be incident commander depending on circumstances
  • Assist with administrative tasks and drive efficiencies to create a financially sustainable security practice
  • Lead and support operational leaders and staff to ensure effective communication and consistent program execution
  • Create and implement policies and procedures to support the local and potential global security program
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including law enforcement
  • Proactively identify, develop, and implement additional security strategies to meet the unique needs of the Tesla business. Support the design and implement security mitigations, which are cost-effective and meet the needs of our business partners
  • Model and lead with a growth mindset
  • Supplements oversight of physical security operations
  • Work with internal stakeholders to understand the risks Tesla faces and build effective programs to mitigate these risks
  • Assist with the development of a security-aware culture
  • All other duties assigned based on business and operational needs
  • Coordinate and manage security-related projects specific to security operations
  • Provide security recommendations to teams involved in the design and construction of new sites in the region
  • Support and manage vendor relationships, report, and develop metrics to track, monitor and control spend
What You’ll Bring
  • Experience with access control, surveillance, and other security systems experience
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as operational need dictates
  • Integrity and professionalism
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Excellent knowledge of public safety, law enforcement, emergency management, and security procedures/protocols; up to date with security industry standards in Texas
  • 10+ years’ security experience with at least 2 years as a people manager. Experience in a Security function managing large sites, corporate, or manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Office 365)
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • CPP, PSP or equivalent certifications are a plus
