Job Description
Position Overview
As part of the PreventionGenetics team, the Associate Laboratory Director shall carefully and thoroughly review clinical DNA test data and test reports. The Associate Laboratory Director shall develop a Portfolio of clinical DNA sequencing tests and shall become expert in the clinical features, genetics, and sequence variant interpretation for all of the disorders and genes within their Portfolios.
Essential Duties
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships by using appropriate interpersonal skills.
  • Updating Test Descriptions at least once every two years;
  • Working with the sales and marketing staff to prepare up-to-date and attractive advertising literature, and to interact with clients;

  • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Participating in research and publication of results.
  • Ability to work and solve problems independently researchers in the Portfolio areas.

  • Make certain that the test reports communicated to our clients are correct, complete, and clear; this responsibility applies equally to both first and second reviewers.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Attending relevant scientific and clinical meetings;
  • Through scholarly, continual effort, become expert in the clinical features, genetics, and sequence variant interpretation for each disorder and each gene within the geneticist’s Portfolio of tests, which include, but are not limited to:
    • Reading of the published literature;
    • Attending relevant scientific and clinical meetings;
    • Working with the Sequence Interpretation unit to categorize published and undocumented variants;
    • Participating in research and publication of results.
  • Motivate and inspire employees to do their best work through coaching.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.
  • Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.
  • Ability to work designated schedule.
  • Writing Test Descriptions;
  • Providing outstanding service, including low turnaround times, to clients.
  • Ability to solve a wide range of intellectual and practical problems and to comprehend most abstruse concepts.
  • Ability to communicate complex information to technicians and other personnel is necessary to obtain viable information on research projects.
  • Working with the Sequence Interpretation unit to categorize published and undocumented variants;
  • Contacting the key clinicians and researchers in the Portfolio areas;
  • Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.
  • Apply strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
  • Reading of the published literature;
  • Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.
  • Build a Portfolio of clinical DNA tests, which will be focused in one (or a few at most) areas of medicine, anatomy, or genetics; Portfolios will mostly include gene sequencing tests, but will sometimes include other tests; Portfolio building will involve the following tasks:
    • Writing Test Descriptions;
    • Updating Test Descriptions at least once every two years;
    • Working with the sales and marketing staff to prepare up-to-date and attractive advertising literature, and to interact with clients;
    • Contacting the key clinicians and researchers in the Portfolio areas;
    • Providing outstanding service, including low turnaround times, to clients.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated background in genetics.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • ABMGG/CCMG/ABB-certified or examination eligible.
  • Doctorate degree in the biomedical sciences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Post doctorate experience.
  • Supervisory experience.

Salary Range:
$113,000.00 - $181,000.00
The annual base salary shown is a national range for this position on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms, conditions, and eligibility requirements of the applicable plans.
