Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is seeking an Associate Director Extension Operations, which will be classified as a Senior Manager Business Administration. In this role you oversee and manage the day-to-day administrative operations.
You will work collaboratively with the Assistant Vice President for Extension and Outreach to:
- To establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure operational performance.
- Support continuous process improvement by evaluating and optimizing operational processes, workflows, and procedures to enhance productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness; and,
- Develop and execute operational strategies that align with the organization’s overall goals and objectives;
As a leader you will provide leadership, management, and mentorship to a team of operations professionals. You will do this through setting clear expectations, delegating responsibilities, and fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Collaborating with and fostering strong partnerships with key stakeholders across different units and facilitating cross-functional meetings while driving initiatives that align with shared program/organizational objectives is key.
Other job responsibilities include:
- Implement strategies to optimize cost-effectiveness without compromising quality or positive stakeholder experience.
- Analyze data and generate reports to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement.
- Encourage a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation within and across the operations teams.
- Leading initiatives to implement best practices, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technology solutions that enhance operational strategies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Identify revenue-generating opportunities.
- Monitor and manage the allocation of resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure efficient and effective use.
Leveling Guidelines
- Aware of key annual objectives of department or work unit
- Understands linkage between daily activities and achievement of annual objectives of department/work unit and explains to direct reports
- Focus on ISU’s mission and meeting department or work unit goals
- Supervises a small department or work team
- Often is a working supervisor with direct, previous experience performing work of those supervised
- Has full management responsibility for direct reports, specifically the authority to hire, fire, and counsel; may share part of responsibility with higher level management
- Requests approval for financial actions beyond a limited scope per policy
