Department Information


The Center for Student Engagement is comprised of 5 areas- Civic Engagement, Fraternity & Sorority Life, Student Organizations, Student Media and the John Lewis Student Leadership Program. The Center empowers and supports registered student organizations to catalyze belonging and create an engaging campus community. We have a strong history of developing and working closely with Georgia Tech's outstanding student leaders. The staff that make up the Center for Student Engagement is here to provide service and support.

Job Summary


Provide planning, management and strategic direction to programs aimed at the promotion of student engagement in student organizations, student media, community service and fraternity and sorority life. Conduct the enhancement of student leadership capabilities and risk management practices including establishment of programs is a key tenant of this role. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations

This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Administration, Institute faculty, staff and students.

This position typically will advise and counsel: faculty and students.

This position will supervise: Civic Engagement, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Student Media and Student Organizations staff.

Responsibilities


Job Duty 1 -
Develop and offer strategic oversite with area staff for budgets supporting Civic Engagement, Fraternity & Sorority Life, Student Media and Student Organizations staff.

Job Duty 2 -
Formulate and oversee implementation of strategic plans for programs encouraging student engagement in student organizations and community service activities.

Job Duty 3 -
Supervise and administer leadership development learning opportunities through the John Lewis Leadership Program and related programs.

Job Duty 4 -
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships within the Division Student Engagement & Well- Being, academic departments and with student organizations leadership in relation to student leadership capability development and risk management practices. Establish and nurture productive relationships with campus and community partners of educational and service programs. Represent Office of Dean of Student on various committees on a campus wide basis.

Job Duty 5 -
Advise the Ramblin Reck Club in relation to their responsibility of maintenance and care of the Ramblin Reck and the daily oversite of the Ramblin Reck Garage operation in cooperation with the GT Facilities & the Division of Student Engagement & Wellbeing. Serve as the Institute staff contact for the Ramblin Reck and Ramblin Reck Garage.

Job Duty 6 -
Oversee the daily function, resource management, and activation of the Student Organization Hub by Center of Student Engagement professional and student staff.

Job Duty 7 -
Monitor and report on the progress of ongoing programs. Organize and supervise professional support staff assignments and activities.

Job Duty 8 -
Responsible for the support, on-going review, and institutional implementation of the of the Registered Student Organization Policy (reference Georgia Tech Policy Library).

Jon Duty 9 -
Perform other duties assigned.

Required Qualifications


Educational Requirements
Master's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Seven to ten years job related experience

Preferred Qualifications


Preferred Educational Qualifications
Doctoral Degree in higher education leadership or related field

Preferred Experience
Four years managerial experience, seven years experience in Higher Education

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


SKILLS
This job requires in depth knowledge of the principles of student leadership development in a higher education setting. Additionally, skills in planning and organization of leadership development programs and those related to student community involvement are required as are those related to communications and partnership building with students, faculty, staff and community organizations. The application of cultural leadership dynamics and effectively working within a broad range of civic engagement models is required.
