Candidates at the assistant, associate, or professor rank are sought with primary research expertise in aerodynamics, aircraft propulsion, and fluid mechanics. Some specific areas of interest include: turbulent boundary-layer flows, aeroacoustics, aeroelasticity, rotorcraft aerodynamics, high-altitude aerodynamics, wind-turbine aerodynamics, active flow control, turbomachinery, turbine cooling, sustainable aviation, aerospace design, and data-driven modeling approaches to aerospace. Successful candidates will be able to actively contribute to the Department’s growing research presence in aerospace. Additionally, candidates are expected to develop and teach core aerospace-related courses and develop new courses that support the mechanical engineering graduate program. Applicants are expected to have an earned Ph.D. or Sc.D. in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
