Job Description
REPORTS TO: Dean of Admissions
LOCATION : Alice. G. Chapman Hall
Primary Objectives
  • A member of the admissions staff, this role has primary oversight and responsibility for on-campus and virtual visits and events, including student and counselor-based events. This position would lead our Visit Experience team efforts and supervise three staff members: Campus Visit Coordinator, Guest Engagement and Alumni Admissions Coordinator, and Admissions Event Coordinator. The position will also manage a limited-travel territory that is responsible for recruitment-based relationship development and enhance the university reputation with the objective of meeting the university enrollment goals.
Duties
  • Read and evaluate applications for admission using holistic review process
  • In consultation with Dean of Admissions, provide strategic oversight for all in-person and virtual visit experiences. Expand the number and scope of high-quality points of engagement aimed at meeting annual application and enrollment goals. This includes program development and assessment
  • Ensure proper staffing, including admissions officers and student employees, to provide a high-quality visit experience and meet the needs of all visitors
  • Territory management for assigned geographic territory aimed at meeting annual enrollment goal, including in-person and virtual school visits, college fairs, counselor events, alumni engagement and direct student outreach
  • Participate in workgroups and other related duties as assigned
  • Advise and counsel prospective students and their families about the opportunities at Lawrence, as well as the admissions, financial aid, and enrollment processes
Working Relationships
Work collaboratively with the admissions office and campus constituents toward achieving annual recruitment goals. Engage staff and faculty as well as prospective students, their families, current students, alumni, school counselors, and independent counselors from a variety of backgrounds.
Knowledge And Skills Required
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 2-3 years of admissions experience with events and supervision responsibilities
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision while also collaborating with and contributing to a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively explain the ideals of a liberal arts education.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated cultural competencies and experience to work with diverse populations of students, domestically and internationally, and support diversity, inclusion and access in student recruitment.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, with some travel and hybrid opportunities available.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with database systems and Excel preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and attention to detail.
