Description
Hofstra University, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Colonial Athletic Association, is seeking a highly motivated individual for the full-time position of Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. The Assistant Coach is responsible for supporting the Head Coach in ensuring the program’s success as it relates to the skill development and performance of the student-athletes, as well as the recruitment, retention, and conduct of the student-athletes. As all staff members are responsible to the policy, procedures and guidelines of the University, the assistant coaches must also directly report to the head coach and follow the job requirements specific to the particular assignments inherent to the sport. This position requires working weekends and holidays and attending athletic events as appropriate. Candidates must be willing and able to organize and handle all aspects of administration and adhere to the rules and regulations of Hofstra University, Hofstra Athletics, the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), and the NCAA.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Assists, develops, and participates in program planning, contest preparation, scouting, film breakdown, practice sessions, game day activities, and coordinates game and practice schedules.
  • Responsible for knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. If found responsible for a violation of NCAA regulations, will be subject to disciplinary or corrective action, including termination if appropriate. Also, may be responsible for any act or omission that may give rise to a finding that the University has violated an NCAA regulation.
  • Evaluates the performance, conduct, and abilities of individuals and groups as assigned by the head coach.
  • Assists with the player development as it relates to proper technique, advanced skill instruction and competition strategy along with team building.
  • Monitors and assists in areas as assigned including all compliance forms (ex. CARA LOGS), travel itineraries, strength and conditioning, camps and clinics, recruitment, admissions, academic pre-reads, NLIs, academic enhancement, equipment, financial planning and budgeting, purchasing, and fundraising.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the head coach and/or athletic director.
  • Oversee Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, and all social media.
  • Assists with evaluation and recruitment of student-athletes. Responsibilities include daily recruitment, communication with and cultivation of recruits. Communicating with AAU Programs and High Schools on a daily basis. Other responsibilities include coordination and documentation of official/unofficial visits. Coordination of recruiting software program “Fast Recruit” and general use of DV Sport/Synergy programs.
  • Available to participate in public relations activities, community outreach programs, marketing and development initiatives as well as alumni engagement.
  • Assist with coordination of Underclassman Day and Camps and Clinics.

Qualifications
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience.
