This is entry level professional services and scientific work in the field of Engineering performing a variety of moderately complex engineering functions in support of construction and maintenance of public works structures, systems, and facilities and transportation engineering. Responsibilities include planning, designing, inspecting, and overseeing assigned project activities and serving as a Resident Engineer and/or Chief Inspector on a simple (Class 1) and/or moderately complex (Class 2) project, or a component of a complex (Class 3) project as defined by the Department of Transportation. Direction is provided to technical and semi-skilled workers and contractors on a project. Work is performed under limited supervision.
To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related field –OR- non-engineering college graduates and non-degreed candidates must possess a Certification of Engineer-Intern as issued by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
Licensing/Registration/Certification Requirements
Non-degreed candidates must possess Certification as Engineer Intern issued by the Maine State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
