Overview:
Golf Rose Animal Services is seeking a
Assistant Technician Manager to join our team!

Location:
51 E. Remington Rd. Schaumburg, IL 60173

Close to Woodfield Mall, great restaurants, & a top 2% school district of districts nationwide for student growth (Dist. 54)

Shift Details:
flexbile day shift: 4 10-hour shifts or 5 8-hour shifts
rotating weekends and some holidays required (holiday pay)
Some second shift will be requested in order to support the whole team

Routine Hospital Hours:
Monday- Friday 8am-7pm
Saturday 8am-3pm
Sunday CLOSED

*We are open 24/7 for emergencies only*

Compensation:
up to $30/hr
Based on skillset, credential status & experience

Golf Rose Animal Services is a full-service, 24-hour animal hospital. We welcome both emergency treatment cases as well as routine medical, surgical, and dental care. Our doctors have years of experience treating serious conditions and offering regular pet wellness care. We care for dogs, cats, and some exotic/pocket pet patients. Job Summary:
This position is suited to a seasoned technician who is looking to advance their career. The candidate must have goals to strive for professional growth & be willing to work in partnership, to advocate for our technician team! They will work closely with our technician manager to promote greater efficiency & use of the veterinary technicians throughout the hospital. The individual will mentor, train, supervise, and assist veterinary support staff to plan, coordinate, and perform a variety of duties concerned with animal health, client education & administrative duties. This position also encompasses all the duties expected of a Certified Veterinary Technician.

Veterinary Technician Credentialing strongly desired.
(If not credentialed, the applicant must have extensive hands-on experience, perferrably a graduate of a Vet Tech assosciate program, & be willing to pursure licensure/credential).

Responsibilities:
How you'll make an impact:
  • Educate clients and team members on products and medications sold including dietary products and answer questions regarding product purchase/use.
  • Manage and contribute to the overall flow of the clinic.
  • Performs all functions related to Certified Veterinary Technician job description.
  • Assist in all aspects of hospital performance which includes but not limited to answering phones, scheduling appointments, client call backs, prescription requests etc. Veterinary Policies/Procedures/Equipment
  • Train and assist the veterinary support staff in their performance of a variety of technical and client education duties that facilitate the work of the veterinarians, groomer and any team member who directly or indirectly provide patient care.
  • Follow and enforce hospital policies set forth by the Practice Manager and Medical Lead.
  • Work alongside the Inventory Manager to purchase pharmaceutical supplies and medications including the maintenance of controlled substance and surgery logs.
  • Maintain knowledge of preventative healthcare recommendations to answer client questions, provide education on vaccines, flea, and heartworm products, and assist in marketing veterinary services from which their pet would benefit, such as a dental cleaning, senior wellness, spay and neuter, and boarding.
  • Ensure that the hospital and its team members are compliant with federal and state animal health laws and regulations including OSHA, Radiation, state board requirements and DEA. Oversees the ordering of dosimetry badges, tracking and storage.
  • Maintain and uphold Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
  • Maintain inventory and maintenance of pharmaceuticals, equipment, and supplies.
  • Create technical schedules that align with doctor, team, surgery, and outpatient needs while monitoring overtime and payroll costs. Arrange to cover shifts by either seeking coverage by technical team or covering shifts yourself.
  • Provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance. Mediate interpersonal problems and address concerns from Technicians and veterinary support staff.
  • Make recommendations to the Practice Manager concerning personnel matters, disciplinary actions and follow through. Provide follow up feedback to direct supervisor to help them continue to coach team members as needed.
  • Conduct monthly departmental meetings and schedule in-service meetings as deemed appropriate and necessary.
Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must be able to conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner with clients even when situations are stressful and/or focused on individual tasks.
  • Veterinary Technician Credentialing strongly desired (If not credentialed, the applicant must have extensive hands-on experience, perferrably a graduate of a Vet Tech assosciate program, & be willing to pursure licensure/credential).
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations, and ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to give SQ, IM and IV injections.
  • Ability to stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.
  • Knowledge of usage, dosage, and common side-effects for commonly used prescription drugs and ability to readily explain them to the clients.
  • Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
  • Ability to properly extubate, monitor temperature and recover a patient from anesthesia.
  • Ability to navigate the practice management software addressing concerns and providing technical support to all departments.
  • Knowledge of heartworm and external parasite preventives to promote client education and sales.
  • Writing skills are effective, efficient, and ability to clearly state the objective.
  • Knowledge of the common anesthesia and recovery states and ability to alert veterinarians when symptoms change or when concerns arise with hospitalized patients.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and exceed expectations.
  • Computer knowledge required; comfortable with Word, iOS, Windows, practice management software, and use of communication tools such as marketing program and email.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and motivation skills. Has the ability to effectively solve problems dealing with team member conflict to personnel issues and performance. Has the ability to direct, guide and assist a group of individuals.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal services. This includes client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of client satisfaction.
  • Perform or oversee routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Working alongside Practice Manager to address negative feedback on NPS and celebrate positive feedback.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the use, care, and storage of veterinary instruments, materials, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of the procedures used for receiving, treating, and scheduling patients, ordering medical supplies, and requesting laboratory tests.
